Where Class 12 students lose marks in Accountancy

Based on 77 anonymised answer sheets checked by EvalAssist AI between July 2026 and October 2026, across 13 different question papers. Students scored 44% of the available marks on average.

What the answer sheets show

The lowest-scoring chapter was Accounting for Partnership Firms – Fundamentals: students scored 40% of the marks on its questions, against 44% across the whole paper.

What examiners look for: Learn the key terms and points of this chapter as the marking scheme lists them; examiners look for those points, each worth part of the mark.

Students scored 60% on 1-mark questions but only 23% on 3-mark questions, which made up 20% of all the marks lost.

What examiners look for: Two- and three-mark answers usually carry one mark per point. Write as many distinct points as the marks, each in its own line, instead of one long paragraph.

No answer was found for 2.4% of the questions, and these blanks made up 7% of the marks lost. (This includes answers we could not locate on the sheet, for example where the question number was missing.)

What examiners look for: CBSE board papers have no negative marking, so a blank answer is the only sure zero. Attempt every question, and write the question number clearly next to each answer so it is found and marked.

In attempted long answers (4 marks or more), 8% earned full marks and 47% earned part of them.

What examiners look for: Partial marks are the norm in long answers. The marking scheme lists the steps; the missed ones are usually the final unit, the conclusion, a labelled diagram or a justification.

How we count: every figure on this page comes from at least 30 answer sheets, pooled from more than one school; no school, teacher or student can be identified. These are practice and school tests checked on EvalAssist AI, not CBSE board results, and the marks are the AI checker's. "No answer found" includes answers the checker could not locate on the sheet.
