Difficulty is the average normalised score per attempt (0 = every student lost all marks, 1 = every student got full marks). Discrimination is the point-biserial correlation between this question's score and the total-paper score; values near +1 mean stronger students score higher on this question, values near 0 mean the question doesn't separate strong from weak students, negative values mean weaker students outperformed stronger ones (likely a bad question). Flags: too_easy (everyone got it right), too_hard (everyone got it wrong), negative_discrimination (weak > strong), bimodal (clustered at both ends).
